Munro Hamilton International Airport, is actually located in Mount Hope - just on the outskirts of Hamilton, Ontario. Hamilton is conveniently located for visitors to the region who would like to visit Niagara Falls and/or Toronto as it is about equal distance to both places. Why Would You Fly in or out of Hamilton Airport? Hamilton is located between Niagara Falls (or Niagara-on-the-Lake) and Toronto and only about 20 minutes from wine country. Airfares to Hamilton may be cheaper than to Toronto's Pearson International Airport. (Of course, your ability to land at Hamilton depends on where you're coming from or what airline you're flying). In addition, parking is cheaper at Hamilton Airport. Another advantage of flying into Hamilton is that its airport is smaller and easier to get around - everything from customs and getting your luggage to renting a car will be faster. Hamilton Airport also offers easy highway access directly across the street. From Hamilton, you're an hour's drive from Toronto and a little more than that from Niagara Falls and Buffalo. What Airlines Fly in and out of Hamilton Airport? Scheduled passenger service is provided year-round by WestJet Airlines. Air Canada stopped service to Hamilton in summer 2008. WestJet offers service between several Canadian destinations and connects to many more in the U.S. - mostly southern, warm-weather cities - as well as to Mexico and the Dominican Republic. Sunquest and AirTransat Holidays operate winter charters to Mexico, Cuba and the Dominican Republic from Hamilton International Airport. Good to Know Duty-free shopping is available at the airport for those on an international or trans-border flight. Right next door to the Hamilton International Airport is the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum, which features aircraft used by Canadians or Canada's Military from the beginning of World War II to the present. The museum offers many opportunities for visitors to interact with the exhibits, including flight combat simulators. Getting to and From the Hamilton Airport Several airport shuttles service Hamilton International Airport, though these need to be scheduled and do not run regularly. Avis and National car rentals have counters located directly across from Domestic Arrivals inside the Air Terminal Building. Hamilton has a number of taxi companies that will have cabs waiting out front of the airport. A cab from the airport to downtown Hamilton will cost about CAN$30 with a tip. If you're on a strict budget, Blue Line taxi will take you to the bus station (about 5 mins away) where you can pick up a bus to downtown Hamilton. This service is offered Monday to Saturday. The Courtyard Marriott Hamilton offers free shuttle service to its guests. Was this page helpful? Thanks for your feedback! Tell us why! Other Submit
